MEGAPHONE is a community of activists working on issues such as the environment, women's rights, LGBTQ rights, transparency and accountability and civic engagement. Together we try to understand the consequences of the shrinking civic space - a process that's been spreading around Central Eastern Europe as of late.
During our meet-up in Romania in 2018 and Hungary in 2019 we were trying to understand how to successfuly counter disinformation but also how to better tell our stories, engage more people in pro-democratic actions and leave our information bubbles.
MEGAPHONE is also an international event that provides space for collaborative discussions and peer-to-peer learning to brainstorm new ideas between activists, action groups, and NGOs from Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Caucasus, who are struggling in the era of polarization, disinformation, and social media algorithms.
