The Digital Activism Accelerator Closing Ceremony brought together nearly 80 civil society activists from organizations that were part of the Digital Activism Accelerator project funded by Google.org, coming from 15 countries, for a day packed with meaningful exchange, reflection, and inspiration in Warsaw. The event marked the culmination of a challenging yet rewarding capacity-building journey that supported organizations in areas such as digital transformation, countering disinformation, strategic communications, cybersecurity, and more (depending on the needs of organizations).

Disinformation and online information manipulation have become one of the most pressing challenges for democratic societies worldwide. They increasingly shape public discourse on every topic, and in turn destabilize societies, undermine democratic institutions, exploiting regional vulnerabilities.

The Closing Ceremony of the Digital Activism Accelerator marks the culmination of a year-long journey for 71 civil society organizations (CSOs) from 12 CEE countries in the Visegrad, the Baltics, the Black Sea, and the Western Balkans.

Across the world, civil society is facing growing challenges—shrinking civic space, the rapid spread of disinformation, and the increasing influence of digital threats. These pressures undermine democracy, social justice, and human rights, making it essential for civil society actors to be equipped with the knowledge, tools, and networks they need to continue their work effectively.
