Mariam Kvaratskhelia, is a prominent leader in the LGBTIQ+ community. She has been at the forefront of the movement as a co-founder and director of Tbilisi Pride, tirelessly campaigning and advocating for LGBTIQ+ equality, human rights, and democracy in Georgia for over eight years. Since 2019, Mariam has been one of the organizers of the annual Tbilisi Pride Week. Unfortunately, these events have been marred by violence on several occasions, including the Pride festival on July 8th, 2023, which was violently attacked and disrupted by Russia-linked extremist groups. Despite these challenges, Mariam’s steadfast determination remains unwavering as she continues to champion equality and social justice for all.
